A good teacher must be able to put himself in the place of others who find learning hard - Eliphias Levi
The Peer Tutoring Program at Westborough High School matches a student who is strong in an academic area and has effective communication skills with a student who needs support in that area. The goal of peer tutoring is not to replace classroom instruction in any way, but to reinforce it. It is also not meant to introduce new material, but to retell existing material in a new way.
When we light the way for others we brighten our own path. Peer Tutoring benefits both the tutor and the tutee. The tutor gains a deeper understanding of their content area, a stronger relationship with peers, and the good feelings of giving back. The tutee gets one on one academic support, instantaneous feedback, and a stronger peer relationship.
